  • For major design changes

In addition, you can manually create a backup if you want to secure a special update.

If you want to back up before an important change, follow these steps:

  1. Open your Webflow project
  2. Go to designer mode
  3. Click on the gear icon in the left sidebar
  4. Select Backups from the list
  5. Click “Create a manual backup.”
  6. Type a name for the backup (e.g. “Before Redesign”)
  7. Save and you're done! Your backup is now securely stored.

Restoring a Webflow backup: Here's how

If something goes wrong, you can quickly roll back your Webflow project to a previous version:

  1. Navigate to the backup area via the gear icon
  2. Find the backup you want in the list
  3. Click “Recover.”
  4. Confirm recovery — your project is now reset to the selected status

Attention: Changes made after backup are lost

Any adjustments made after the restored backup are overwritten. That's why it's a good idea to create a new backup beforehand if you want to keep some recent items.

Conclusion: Regular backups secure your Webflow website

A functioning backup system gives you security and saves you a lot of time in an emergency. Thankfully, Webflow makes it easy automatic and manual backups to use. Our tip: Always create a manual backup before making major changes and regularly check which backups are available.
